KA, the unprecedented new theatrical show from Cirque du Soleil at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, brings together astonishing acrobatic performances, the thrills and action of martial arts from all over the world, plus amazing innovations in puppetry, multimedia and pyrotechnics. Together, they tell the epic story of a set of twins on a perilous journey to fulfill their shared destiny. KA brings the visual language of cinema to a dazzling live event that is more about storytelling than any previous Cirque production. The show's underlying theme of duality is underscored by the opposing powers of fire to create and to destroy.
Tickets $99-$200 Friday-Tuesday, 7PM and 10:30PM
Update: From Mike Weatherford of the Review-Journal (1/3/08): "Cirque du Soleil is making several changes to "Ka," which is perceived to be the weak link in the five-show dynasty on the Strip. Attendance is strong compared to most non-Cirque titles, but "Ka" is the most expensive Cirque -- it cost at least $165 million to open in late 2004 -- and less-than-capacity attendance doesn't amortize it any quicker. Last year, the producers cut one act, in which stunt performers jumped from one log stump to another, because it slowed the pace of the show. A new "aerial strap" act was added to the "forest people" scene before Christmas, and additional tweaks to that sequence are continuing this month. Another entirely new number is due for "Ka" midyear, when the specialty act becomes available."
